Moab

I was going for an Edward Weston feel (this picture, in particular).

So, I went to Moab last week. I told my dad I really wanted to go hiking and he threw out the idea of a quick camping trip to either Zions or Moab. I do love Zions, but I'd never been to Moab so I chose to go there instead.

After the painfully deserted drive to Moab, we set up camp and went hiking. The hike to Delicate Arch isn't even hard at all, but it sure was hot. So hot. The we-hiked-at-3:30 pm-in-the-Utah-desert-with-no-shade hot. I thought I was going to die in the first five minutes, but once I was drenched in sweat, it was all good.

A big wall... rock... thing.
You can kind of distinguish the arch on the right. My dad
wears a farmer's hat everywhere.
We hiked up from around the back of the arch to see the bowl better. This resulted in my dad and I having to go all spider-crawling it up in order not to tumble to our blistery deaths.

We hiked down, visited a few more arches (in which we even saw a desert hare. ooooh), and ate a late dinner. It was still hot at night. Heat + two man tent + my snoring father + insomnia = a bad night's sleep.

We went to Canyonlands the next day and saw a lot of old people. Actually, we saw a lot of old people the whole trip. Most of them were French or German (I know because my dad asked every single person we walked by where they're from).

After visiting the slightly uneventful Canyonlands, we drove back home. At one point my dad needed gas and just drove right past the last city for quite a while. For ten minutes he debated whether or not to turn around and get gas, in which we ended turning around. I could not figure out why he didn't just stop in the first place.

That trail you see is one long-A biking trail

Welcome to where I spent most summers of my childhood :) Well, at least in the near vicinity. So pretty, huh?!

I hate it when I make bad typos (previous comment). Your photos are amazing! I wish you were here to take pictures for me. I don't think I'm doing France the justice it deserves.
